Description

My own jaeger design. The Mark VIII Jaeger Prototype, Whiskey Rodeo v1.0. Made with the Warner Bros App. I might even draw v2.0 someday.

BACKSTORY:
The day mankind started building monsters of their own by binding man electronically to machine, they started down the path to creating a Jaeger with it's own brain and possibly it's own soul. Though advances in "drift" technology has made leaps and bounds through Mark I through Mark VII, the danger of neural feedback has always made the use of dual pilots a necessity, .. until now.

Using harvested cells from pilot volunteers and the research of kaiju expert Dr. Newton "Newt" Geiszler, the PPDC was able to create the "squids", genetically engineered human/kaiju "hybrid brains". Massive brain tissues masses, kept alive in large neural net conatainers filled with ammonia, perfectly suited to make exact "neural handshakes" with their gene donor pilot. Formerly drift incompatible pilots now have the perfect jaeger co-pilots, ... themselves.

Thanks to this technology, Whiskey Rodeo is of one true mind. Within the conn pod the lone pilot is completely in tune with his 3 Squid co-pilots. 2 of the squids are present in the conn pod alongside the pilot and a third "secondary brain" squid is situated deep within Whiskey Rodeo's heavy chasis, mimicing the kaiju anatomy itself. Neural Feedback risk is completely negated now, as any one brain would be capable of handling the once dangerous amount of mental stress.

This unique control configuration results in dramatic performance advancements. Despite its rugged, almost dated, structural design, Whiskey Rodeo is capable of rapid movement, on par with the much lighter Mark V models. Increases in accuracy, maneuverability, balance, and resiliency in combat have all been empirically recorded.

Some engineers and scientists have even hypothesized that the full mental potential of the squids has yet to be tapped. With each perfect drift, they genetic brains imprint further upon their pilot, learning his habits, feeling his fear, excitement, rage, and joy. Several pilots have reported a powerful connection to their own squid crew, some claiming that their movements while in combat simulations felt too smooth, like their jaeger knew what it was supposed to do before the pilot enacted the full command. These claims have been dismissed by most neural science experts, but several engineers have proposed radical jaeger design changes to take advantage of the improved mental ability, citing the jaeger Crimson Typhoon, with it's 3 man crew, as the best example of jaeger design improvements. A drastic shift away from the humanoid jaeger design and toward a more biological kaiju-like design has even been proposed.

The first fielded attempt at this experimental technology, Whiskey Rodeo could pave the way for Jaeger designs should the kaiju threat ever rear it's ugly bladed head again.

The Jaeger design itself is pretty damn cool...but the description of the idea behind this Jaeger is just all kinds of awesome!!
